Mechanism of intraocular lens opacification after cataract surgery

Objective To investigate the mechanism of intraocular lens opacification after cataract surgery. Methods Four patients with intraocular lens opacification from June 2016 to October 2016 were analyzed. Results Four patients were diagnosed with intraocular lens opacification, including hydrophobic acrylic IOL in 3 cases and hydrophilic acrylic IOL in 1 case.All the patients had a history of hypertension and among them 1 patient with diabetes history. Conclusion Intraocular lens opacification can occur in the hydrophobic acrylic IOLs and the hydrophilic acrylic IOL.Different kinds of material lead to different kinds of clinical manifstations.Hypertension and diabetes may be the main risk factors.IOL exchange is the best way to solve the problem.
