Method for detecting cooking cutlery on a matrix hob

The method involves generating a representation of a bottom area of multiple cookware elements i.e. cooking pots (12, 14) arranged side by side, or one of the cookware element placed on a matrix-hob i.e. matrix-induction hob. A continuous area (28) in the representation is classified depending on a shape and/or size of the continuous area. A pot separation algorithm is applied with a result of classification so as to distinguish surface areas of the continuous area, where the surface areas are generated by the single cookware element. An independent claim is also included for a matrix-hob comprising a control unit.
