The present study evaluates the accuracy of submammary thoracic perimeter for lung size matching between donor and recipient and analyzes the influence of donor lung size discrepancies on functional outcome after double lung transplantation. The population is composed of 18 double lung graft recipients, 16 of whom had cystic fibrosis. The lung size match was assessed by comparison of predicted total lung capacity of donor and recipient: five patients were matched in a 10% confidence interval; four received smaller lungs, and nine received larger ones
