One of the moments of greater complexity and interference with the physiology of women is pregnancy, where it differs more from man. At that moment, the woman suffers from several biological and emotional changes, and that the end of the process, there is the arrival of a child, which ultimately also interfere with social aspects of women. After delivery, the woman begins the moment the puerperium, where all aspects changed the adaptation to the child should be administered, with important decision making about the future, including on Family Planning. For many decades, the woman was only for health and caregiver responsible for the child profile that was modified from the 50s at the international level, where feminist movements through the woman began to empower their sexuality and where were developed laws ara defend women's rights. Later, the Brazilian government, based on international law, began to develop laws and policies, providing greater support and care to women, based on their specific characteristics physiologies. In this process, the development of public policies that could provide family planning and developed with active participation of nurses, where both genders are in equity position. This study has as a research object, the front of the hospital postpartum family planning and aims to discover how the hospital postpartum thinks about family planning and how nurses can contribute towards this postpartum. This research presents the descriptive and exploratory qualitative approach. This study was conducted in the setting of the Maternity University Hospital Antonio Pedro sector belonging to the public health of the city of Niteroi, where through semi-structured interviews, 15 women interned in the sector were addressed. The analysis technique used was of Topical Categories of Bardin, consisting of Pre-Analysis, Material Exploration of the treatment results, interference and interpretation, being arranged so that they form groups and establish lines of communication on the theme developed in study. After grouping and categorization, they were analyzed according to the relevant and updated on postpartum family planning and scientific literature. Was noticed a great desire for family planning in respect of contraception, through contraception, lack of resoluteness of them due to lack of adaptation to the way of life of these women, as well as lack of knowledge about the use of these puerperal methods in different stages of life and no knowledge about the role of the nurse within the family planning. It could be concluded that there is a lack of scientific publications on the subject that the ignorance of the user must be remedied by health professionals and so there is the effectiveness of family planning, the nurse needs to promote a closer relationship with the user and take hold more firmly so that there is a valuation class.
