Evaluación de dos dietas en lactantes con reflujo gastroesofàgico no patológico

2002
Introduction. The purpose of this work was to compare the effect of 2 formulas: a pre-thickened formula (PTF) and a rice cereal thickened standard formula (RCTF), on the nutritional status and symptoms of infants with gastroesophageal reflux (GER). Material and methods. This is a randomized, crossed, blind, prospective study. Patients aged 0-4 months, weighting ≥ 2 500 g, eutrophic, with vomiting or regurgitations and with 1 or more symptoms of irritability were included; a written informed consent previous inclusion was obtain. Patients (n =44) were divided in 2 groups: the first group received RCTF from day 0 to day 15 and group '2 received PTF from day 0 to day 15; at day 16 the groups were switched. Clinical and anthropometrical evaluation were performed on day 0, 15 and 30. Results. Age average 60.9 days, 23 were males; PTF contributed with 120 kcal/kg/day while RCTF aported 120 kcal/kg/day plus 96 additional kcal/kg (from 4 g/32 mL of rice cereal). Both formulas diminished the symptoms of GER; the gain of weight was of 108.9 ± 39.9 g/kg in the first group at days 15th to 30th, while in group 2 was of 53.2 ± 23. Conclusions. Pre-thickened formula diminished GER symptoms and do not increases the energetic aportation.
