Study on antibacterial activity and mechanism of housefly antimicrobial peptide

2004
The antimicrobial peptide showed significant antimicrobial activity to Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and multiple-methicillin resistance Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Escherichia coli couldn^t survive in the 50#mu#g/ml purified antimicrobial peptide solution under 37℃ for 60min. Under SEM, the broken and perforated cytomembrane of bacteria could be observed. The antimicrobial peptide of housefly has broad antibacterial and sterilizing activity to both Gram-negative bacilli and Gram-positive cocci. The cytomembrane disrupted by of the antimicrobial peptide led to the death of bacteria.
