Analysis on Water Beam Accident Caused by Uptake Parallel Connection at Pusher Type Reheat Furnace

The paper expounds the accident of the cracking of water beam at furnace bottom pipe work after the uptakes of natural circulation and evaporative cooling system for pusher type furnace were connected in parallel, and analyzes its cause. The parallel piping was modified. It is pointed out that the parallel connection method should not be tried to use for evaporative cooler uptake in later design and construction; the diameter, position and angle of paralleled manifold should be paid special attention to when parallel connection is a must; the cracking of water beam at furnace bottom pipe work can only be effectively avoided and the life of water beam can approach or reach that of separate uptake system when appropriate design and construction are executed in parallel connection method.
