Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell s: Principles and Materials

2022
Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is the most popular type of low temperature fuel cells and has significnat advantages of all solid components, high power density, fast startup and shutdown capability and fast resposes to load changes. As a result PEMFC is particularly suited for vehicular propulsion and portable power units in addition to stationary applications. This chapter is an introduction of fundamentals including operating principles, proton migration process, electrode kinetics and key materials of electrolyte membranes and catalysts.
