Anorectal and Colonic Evaluation

Many techniques and modalities are available to obtain information regarding the colon and rectum. This chapter describes these modalities and appropriate indications for each. Evaluation begins with physical exam and clinic examinations. The chapter then discusses tools used to detect colonic neoplasms and locally stage colorectal cancer, evaluate GI bleeding, evaluate pelvic functional pathology, and image anatomic defects of the rectum and anus.
