PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Lisa Masters is an Occupational Therapist registered with the Health Professions Council and graduated in 1990. She subsequently worked as an O.T. in India with children with both physical and learning disabilities and returned to work in London in the latter field. She established an O.T. service in both Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham whilst focussing her work in the field of autism. Lisa has a post-graduate degree in Learning Disabilities from Reading University. Subsequently, Lisa moved to work in Gloucestershire, gaining experience of MOHO, and then Somerset to again establish an O.T. service within South Somerset area in same area, studying Sensory Integration with Dido Green. She then assisted in creating the successful Asperger Syndrome Consultancy Service in Somerset leading on training for the Service. Lisa also co-wrote other training packages for O.T.'s that have subsequently been shared within the South West. Lisa chose to become an independent practitioner and training facilitator in 2008 across the U.K. This role includes those in all sectors including Primary Care and specialist medical services, increasing awareness and providing advice relating to environmental, communication and processing issues. She works closely with COT, assisting them in their work relating to autism and OT in relation to associated government agendas including the Autism Bill 2009. For Harrison Training, Lisa undertakes courses relating to autism and sensory processing. She is a member of a number of COT specialist sections, as autism covers many areas, and chairs the South West COTSS-IP group. 2010
