Endoscopic Balloon Dilatation for Achalasia:a Retrospective Analysis of 42 Patients

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of endoscopic balloon dilatation for Achalasia. Methods: Forty-two patients with achalasia have treated by WILSON-COOK balloon under endoscopic observation. We analyzed its results and factors associated with recurrence. Results: The dysphagia symptoms remitted in all of the 42 patients, and most of patients were found to have mucosal laceratins, abrasions and oozing of blood. 26.2% of patients have acid-reflux or heart burn symptoms. None of patients has complication of perforation, haematemesis and melena. Conclusions: Endoscopic balloon dilatation is an effective and safe treament for achslasia.
