Sound insulation with wooden window frames. Pt. 1. The effects of sash bars on the efficiency of sound insulation of wooden window frames

1985
The wood-framed window has been constantly brought up to the standards required by the market and window-engineering, sound and heat insulation. Acoustic testing has been done on a newly-developed series of wood-framed windows to arrive at new knowledge about the influence of stay bars of various designs, glazing techniques and sealing, in particular. First of all, the influence of stay bars of various kinds on noise insulation is the subject of this report. It was found that the reduction of noise insulation by the stay bars, in relation to the same glazing without stay bars, is very slight, even when insulation assessed at higher values is involved.
