Down Syndrome (DS) is a chromosomalanomaly in which it ispossibletopresent oral manifestations, such as buccal, malocclusion, hypotoniclanguage, dental agenesis, periodontal disease, delayed dental eruption, dental structurealterationsandothers. Withregardtomalocclusion, Berthold et al. (2004) observed a higherprevalenceof anterior open bite, posterior crossbite, andpreviouscrossbite in patientswith Down syndrome. ,theaimofthisstudywasto visualize themain oral manifestationsofpatientswith Down syndrome. For that, weselectedpatientswith DS attendedthePreventiveOrthodonticsClinicoftheDentistryCourseoftheUniversity Center ofAnnapolis (UniEVANGELICA). Theyweremarkedonphotographicpaperandorganizedon a clotheslinemadeofribbons. The exhibitionoftheclotheslinewasoneoftheattractionsofthe V Cultural Show ofthe Dental Coursewheretheacademicsandtheteaching staff oftheinstitutionparticipate, which, whenobservedtheimages, wereabletoknowthemain oral problemsof SD andthetreatmentsthatpromotehealthand improve thequalityoftheirlives. As a conclusion, it waspossibleto observe thechange in thequalityoflifeofpeoplewith DS, throughthetreatmentofmalocclusion, in a cultural event, as a conscience, thusfavoringthedevelopmentof a more humanistic profile ofthe professional and future dentistryprofessionals.
