Type and distribution of geomorphology of aeolian sediment at region of Suosuo Vale of Kumtag Desert.

2009
In September of 2005,while we went across the Suosuo Ravine of the Kumtag Desert from south to north, the morphology of aeolian sediment landform was observed in the region of 39°37′8″~40°25′02″N,92°12′59″~92°46′27″E.The morphology is described by the observation in field and referencing to the photos and relief map of the Kumtag Desert in the paper. In the direction of latitude of the Kumtag Desert, the linear sandy ridge distributes at the head and the end of the Suosuo Ravine. The body of ravine is a place where the sandy ridge is relatively higher, and the type of sandy dune is complex too.The colligating sandy ridge or complex sandy ridge, that is,composed by 3 or 4 smaller ridges or chains, locates on the terraces of two sides of the body of the ravine, and there are some types of dunes with the relative height of 131 m which is the highest sandy dune at the two sides of the body of the ravine, such as crescentic dune chains, pyramid dune and wavy linear ridge. The like-feather sandy dune distributes in the middle-north of the desert, and the crescentic dune with the highest height of 26m is in the fringe of the desert. In the direction of longitude,40% of observed sample of morphology is different at parallelism position at the terraces of the ravine. The greater that Suosuo Ravine shape change is,the more different that landform is at the parallelism positions. The shape change of the ravine affects the shapes of dune on the two sides of the terrace of the ravine. The landforms were influenced by fluvial force around the dunes in the Kumtag Desert, which strongly affected type of dune and distribution of aeolian sediment landform in the regions of the desert.
