Oromandibular dystonia secondary to radiotherapy. Peripheral injuries triggering thalamic disruption?: A case report

2011
Abstract Oromandibular dystonia (OMD) is an involuntary, sustained (tonic) or spasmodic muscle contraction, which involves the masticatory and lower facial muscles. The primary and secondary etiologies of OMD have been reported. OMD has been reported in association with peripheral nervous injuries. We describe the case of a patient with a closure OMD secondary to focal radiotherapy for a nasal cavum tumour and discuss current medical literature related to this topic.
