The effectiveness of chemical modifiers in the process of aluminium determination in natural materials using GF AAS technique

2002
The investigation was carried out with the aim of clarifying whether the chemical modifiers [Mg(NO 3 ) 2 and Pd(NO 3 ) 2 ], which are thought to be universal, are fully effective independently of the composition of the matrix of the analyzed material as well as whether the use of these modifiers makes it possible toeliminate the interferences caused by acids (HClO 4 , HF) used in a process of transferring an analyte into a solution. For the purpose ofthis inves-tigation standard Al solutions as well as biological and food samples were used. It was found out that the effectiveness of the investigated modifiers depends profoundly not only on the character of a particular modifier but also on its concentration and the composition of the material being analyzed. Moreover, these modifiers do not completely eliminate the interferences from acids and their effectiveness in this respect is determined by the composition ofthe natural material being analyzed.
