Medicinal effects of honey; a short review

2019
Honey has both bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity and has antiviral and anti fungal properties. It causes wound counteraction, prevents from excessive scar formation and stimulates re-epithelialization. It has antihypertensive effects and anti diabetic drugs in combination with honey proved to be more effective for blood glucose control. Honey has nitric oxide, which has cardio protective function. It also has great role in enhancing immunity, as an anti oxidant, and has great nutritional benefits. Current literature is limited in proving its effectiveness although role of honey is increasing in health care. More research work is required to prove its role in cure and its role in medicinal effects.
