Research data supporting Melt-Quenched Glasses from Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Perovskites

2021
This data set contains all of the data presented in the paper ", B. K. Shaw et. al, Nature Chem, Accepted”. Several hybrid materials from the metal-organic framework (MOF) family have been demonstrated to form stable high temperature liquids. Quenching then results in the formation of melt-quenched MOF-glasses, which retain the inorganic-organic bonding of the three-dimensional crystalline phase. The properties of this new class of ‘hybrid’ glass are of intense interest in both coordination polymer and glass domains. The phenomenon is however still limited to several structures. Hybrid perovskites occupy a prominent position within solid-state materials chemistry due to their functional properties such as ionic transport, photoconductivity, ferroelectricity and multiferroicity. Here we show that a series of dicyanamide-based hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites melt. Our combined experimental-computational approach demonstrates that they form glasses upon quenching, which largely retain inorganic-organic connectivity. Their very low thermal conductivities (~ 0.2 W m-1 K-1), combined with moderate electrical conductivities (10-3 – 10-5 S m-1) and polymer-like thermo-mechanical properties identify them as a new family of functional glass-formers. The README file in the main directory contains a list of each sub-folder, and the data it contains. These are correlated to the figure numbers in both main manuscript and SI, which present this data.
