Urgent Operation for Rebleeding Intracerebral Hemorrhage after Aneurysm Rupture: A Case Report

2009
Aneurysm rupture leading to subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a devastating problem. The mortality and morbidity rates are high, especially in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) or with poor neurological grading. We reported a patient with SAH due to right middle cerebral artery aneurysm rupture. Rebleeding proceeded to ICH and deteriorated neurological function. Craniotomy for removing ICH and aneurysm clipping was performed immediately, and resulted in recovery of neurological function. The report confirmed that rapid decompression with clot evacuation and aneurysm clipping may be helpful in some patients with rebleeding ICH caused by aneruysm rupture, even though the neurological grading is poor.
