Angioplasty of persistent "stump" of internal carotid artery.

: An unusual sequela of internal carotid artery occlusion is the development of cerebral ischemia caused by emboli in a residual stump of the internal carotid artery. Five patients with transient ischemic attacks due to this condition are presented. Stump angioplasty was employed successfully in each case.
