Low Volume of Exposure Affects Trainees' Confidence in Chest Drain Placement

Since the turn of the century, various implementations have potentially decreased the exposure of doctors in training to practical procedures. These include Modernising Medical Careers (MMC) and the European Working Time Regulations (EWTR). Both these measures resulted in training that was shorter in terms of the hours worked per week and the total length of time taken to reach consultancy, as well as doctors spending less time away from their own specialty.
