A case of anaphylactic shock induced by mealworm antigen in the bite of a Japanese flying squirrel

Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor), the larvae of the Darkling beetle, are commonly bred as food for pets, including herpetiles, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc. We herein report a case of anaphylactic shock induced by allergy to mealworm via suspected skin sensitization.
