Epidemiological characteristics of dengue fever in Guangzhou,2011

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characterisitics of dengue fever and thereby provide references for future prevention and control.Method Data from the Infectious Disease Surveillance and Reporting System,the Laboratory Recording Surveillance System,as well as the report from field investigation and epidemic briefings were reviewed and analyzed.Result There were 51 cases of dengue fever reported in 2011.35.29%(18 cases) were the imported cases,and of these cases were coming from south-east Asia.The accumulative incidence was 0.4 / 105 people with no death.The findings from laboratory surveillance indicated that the epidemic was caused by type-I dengue virus.Conclusions The epidemic of dengue fever in Guangzhou was sporadic.The risk of infection is mainly from the imported or the referred cases.
