The Effectiveness of One Tumbon One Search & Rescue (OTOS) with Non-communicable Disease Patient Care Service in Nondang Hospital, Nakhon Ratchasima

This study was aimed at evaluation effectiveness of the project about the role of One Tumbon One Search & rescue (OTOS), the first responder in emergency medical care system, in chronic care clinic at Nondang hospital Nakhon Ratchasima. OTOS carried the appointed chronic patients to chronic care clinic as the routine, with the budget that was supported by the local government organizations. The evaluation was study the outcome in the patient group and OTOS in 2006-2010. The results revealed that the patients missed appointment decease from 4.32% in 2006 to 0.35% in 2010. That showed the increase continuity of treatment in chronic patient, and reflected to decrease the number of morbidity and mortality of chronic patients from 11 cases in 2006 to 2 cases in 2010. The numbers of emergency medical service at OTOS were increase from 353 cases in 2006 to 3,200 cases in 2010, because their well-known activity with chronic patients in Tumbon.  This study showed how to integrate the activity between OTOS, hospital and the local government organizations to improve the chronic care model with benefits sharing in all partnerships. This model may be applied to the other rural area inThailand.
