Bilateral Acute Angle Closure Glaucoma Attack Following General Anesthesia in Patent-Iridotomy Eyes-Case Report

2010
Peripheral laser iridotomy is the standard treatment for acute angle-closure glaucoma. The patent iridotomy provides the communication between anterior and posterior chamber and prevents iridotrabecular occlusion at papillary block. However, angle-closure glaucoma may still occur with patent iridotomy under some other circumstances. The known causes include inadequate size of laser iridotomy, plateau iris syndrome and peripheral angle crowding at mydriatic status. Here, we describe a case of primary angle closure, who had received bilateral prophylactic laser iridotomy, encountered bilateral simultaneous acute angle-closure glaucoma attack after general anesthesia status for trans pars plana vitrectomy operation of left eye.
