Repercussions of screening

1982
Screening may apply to a whole or the major part of a community, it may involve a limited section of the population or perhaps be concerned only with extended family groups known to be at risk for some disorder. The present discussion is concerned with screening apparently healthy subjects in whom disease may be diagnosed as a consequence. This is very different from the conventional diagnosis of disease in an individual who is ill and seeking medical help.
