Pregnancy-Associated Breast Cancer (PABC) and Fertility Issues in Young Women After Breast Cancer
2021
PABC is a rare clinical condition, but its prevalence is increasing as more women are delaying childbearing. Management strategies should be discussed in a multidisciplinary manner by a team involving an obstetrician, neonatologist, oncologist, and radiation oncologist. Treatment should conform as closely as possible to protocols for nonpregnant patients. This chapter outlines the general obstetrical and oncological considerations that should be taken into account when managing a pregnant cancer patient. Also fertility issues during and after pregnancy and prognosis of pregnancy after breast cancer diagnosis in young women will be discussed.
