A CASE OF ADULT INTUSSUSCEPTION WITH MESENTERIUM ILEOCECALE COMMUNE

1990
We report a case of adult intussusception due to a cecal carcinoma complicqted with mesenterium ileocecal commune. A 72-year-old woman was complained of right abdominal pain two weeks before. A tumorous lesion, elastic hard, was palpated in the right abdomen. Barium enema and ultrasonography indicated an intussusception. On laparotomy it was found to be the colo-colic intussusception with the advanced position in the middle of the transverse colon. When the intussusception was reduced, the cecum up to the lower half of the ascending colon was found not to be fixed to the retroperitoneum, that is, mesenterium ileocecale commune was complicated. Since a tumor-like induration was palpated in the cecum, right hemicolectomy was performed considering a possible malignancy. The resected tumor was a Borrmann type 2 lesion with 3.5cm in diameter. Histologically it was a moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, while the lymph nodes being only inflammatory.
