High-spead preparation and electric properties of lead fitanate ceramics

In order to improve the di sa dvantages of the usually used Sol-gel method for preparing the lead titanate na nocrystals such as low velocity of hydrolytic processes,high temperature of sin tering and long period of preparation,a series of technological measures have b een suggested.The hydrolytic process of lead acetate and titanium isopropoxide sol system was promoted by the addition of methyl alcohol water solution with ce rtain concentration.The fresh gel was directly sintered to finish the transform ation process from gel to lead titanate nanocrystals,which were quite easy to b e ground into fine powders for ceramic pellets.The improved Sol-gel method exp erimentally reduced the two preparation periods from a few days to several hour s.On basis of SEM,XRD and electric ity measurement ,it was indicated that the lead titanate ceramics via the im proved Sol-gel method possessed the same st ructure and ferroelec tric properties as the ordinary Sol-gel derived one.It w as show n that the lead titanate ceramics thus ob tained have excellent dielec tric and ferroelectric properties.
