Comparison of two methods for detection of HLA-B27 with early and mid-AS patients

2011
Objective: To compare the accuracy, sensitivity and specificity in detection of HLA-B27 between the enzyme-linked immunoassay and flow cytometry,to investigate the value in the diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis. Methods: Using the enzyme-linked immunoassay and flow cytometry, the same blood samples of suspected early and mid-AS patients were detected, and then calculated the sensitivity, specificity and positive and negative predictive value according to the results of two methods. Results: The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of the enzyme-linked immunoassay and flow cytometry was 0.960,0.972,0.967,0.972;0.980,0.986,0.980,0.986,respectively,and accordance rate of the results of the two methods was 98.0%.Conclusion: In contrast with flow cytometry, sensitivity and specificity of the enzyme-linked immunoassay is relatively high, thus the enzyme-linked immunoassay is a time-saving,convenient and accurate method for detection of HLA-B27.In basic level hospitals,it is a practical and reliable method for AS patients with early diagnosis and differential diagnosis, and has bright prospects for clinical application.
