Promoting digital literacy for seniors, the aptitude of tablet-pcs

espanolEn toda Europa los estudios revelan que la inclusion digital es todavia un tema muy importante para las generaciones mayores. La discrepancia en los numeros de uso de Internet entre las generaciones mas jovenes y mayores se redujo ligeramente en los ultimos anos, pero le sigue un tema de preocupacion, ya que los recursos socioeconomicos del uso de Internet para las generaciones mayores no estan siendo exploradas. El uso de Internet puede contribuir a una mejor calidad de vida; la interaccion social en Internet reduce la soledad y la depresion. eSkills y eCompetences desarrollo entre los terceros quinceaneros sigue siendo un reto. obstaculos socio-economicos, tecnicos y emocionales dificultan el proceso. En este trabajo se presentan los principales resultados de un estudio comparativo piloto. El estudio se centro en el analisis de los potenciales de Tablet-PCs para promover el desarrollo de competencias digitales para las generaciones mayores. El estudio revela que, en comparacion con los portatiles estandar Tablet-PCs tienen muchas ventajas para promover una rapida y eficiente con exito el primer contacto con Internet, en el mediano plazo que soportan eficazmente el desarrollo de competencias digitales. EnglishThroughout Europe studies reveal that eInclusion is still a very important topic for the older generations. The discrepancy in Internet usage numbers between younger and older generations slightly decreased in the past years, but it stills a topic of concern since the socio-economic potentials of Internet usage for the older generations are not being explored. Internet usage can contribute to a higher quality of life; social interaction on the Internet reduces loneliness and depression. eSkills and eCompetences development amongst third agers is still challenging. Socio-economics, technical and emotional obstacles hinder the process. In this paper the key results of a comparison pilot study is presented. The study focused on analysing the potentials of Tablet-PCs for promoting the development of eSkills for the older generations. The study reveals that when compared with standard notebooks Tablet-PCs have many advantages for promoting a quick and efficient first successful contact with the Internet, in the midterm they effectively support the development of eSkills.
