Encapsulation of Perovskite Nanocrystals into Organic Polymer for Improved Stability

Enhancing the stability of perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) is very crucial to their applications in optoelectronics. Polymeric encapsulation has been one of the most developed treatments to improve the stability of PNCs, however, the efficacy is limited due to the molecular gap between PNCs and the surrounding polymer. In this work, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) is developed as the binder to fill the molecular gap between PNCs and PMMA, which can not only tightly anchor on the PNC surface via hydrogen bonds but also polymerize into the outer polymeric network. As a consequence, the stability of PNCs against moisture and irradiation is significantly improved.
