Conservative Treatments for Tendinopathy

2017
Conservative treatments of tendinopathies gather different strategies. Exercise theraphy started by the milestone study of Alfredson in 1998, and since then, numerous studies have analyzed the isometric and eccentric exercises. In the last years it has been shown that these is non evidence that the eccentric regime is more effective than other loading programs. Not all tendons work with the same goals: predicting and control force is the main feature of the upper limb tendons, and energy storage is the main feature of lower limbs. Furthermore literature seems to suggest that pain and psycological factors may have different impact between upper and lower limb. The rehabilitation program is a progression of 5 phases. Other therapeutical treatments (NSAIDs, physical therapy modalities, corticosteroid injections and glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) patches) were analyzed.
