Regional Anesthesia Techniques and Management in Cardiothoracic Surgery

2021
Optimal perioperative pain control can translate into improved patient outcomes and potentially lower incidence of chronic pain. Multimodal approach for perioperative pain management is a common practice in most of the cardiac surgery units. Both acute and transitional pain service teams play an active role and are very effective in perioperative surveillance of patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Benefits of regional techniques in selected groups of patients may lower perioperative morbidity and mortality reaching beyond the benefits of superior pain control.
