Management of Septoria Leaf Spot of Tomato through Chemicals Caused by Septorialy copersici Speg.

2014
Field screening of new fungicide molecules against leaf spot of tomato caused by Septoria lycopersici was taken up during kharif, 2012 at Main Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad. Seven treatments in three replications were evaluated under natural epiphytotic conditions of Septoria leaf spot severity. Different chemicals were applied as sprays. Data on disease severity showed that all the chemicals significantly reduced the disease over control. However, maximum disease reduction was recorded in Azoxystrobin (0.1%) and carbendazim + mancozeb(0.2%)-treated plots with per cent disease index of 13.60 and 17.80 respectively followed by hexaconazole, mancozeb, tebuconazole and carbendazim with per cent disease index of 21.30, 23.03, 23.09 and 24.65 respectively. Spraying the tomato crop with Azoxystrobin (0.1%) and carbendazim + mancozeb (0.2%) proved highly efficacious in restricting the disease spread under field conditions and thereby stabilizing the yield returns.
