Design and use of phased array RF systems for loco-regional hyperthermia of deep seated tumors

2018
Hyperthermia, increasing tumor temperatures to 40-43°C, is a proven oncological treatment enhancing the effectiveness of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Deep seated tumors are usually heated by a phased array of radiofrequency or microwave antennas positioned around the patient. This paper focuses on the clinical requirements, design and evolution of phased array loco-regional hyperthermia systems.
