Neue Simulatoren für die Schulung : Konvoi- und Vorkonvoi-Kernkraftwerks-Simulatoren

1998
One of the main factors influencing the safety and the availability of a nuclear power plant is the operating crew. The positive performance of German nuclear generating units as judged by international standards thus is due also to the comprehensive theoretical and practical training of the operators. The convoy simulators for the Emsland (KKE) Nuclear Power Station as the reference plant and, at the same time, for the Neckar (GKN) and Isar-2 Nuclear Power Stations as well as the pre-convoy simulators for the nuclear generating units of Philippsburg-2 (KKP-2) and Brokdorf(KBR) are used for practical training in simulators specifically designed for these plants which are available at the Simulator Center of Kraftwerks-Simulator-Gesellschaft (KSG) and Gesellschaft for Simulatorschulung (GfS) in Essen-Kupferdreh and are detailed replicas of the control rooms and the plant dynamics of these facilities. The report contains a description of the history of the convoy and pre-convoy nuclear power plant simulators, from the decision to design and build the systems to their completion, commissioning, and first training experience. An account is also given of the way in which the software is maintained and updated after the onset of training. The project was started in early 1991 and completed in September 1997.
