A disease complex pathogen " trypanosoma congolense" transmitted by tsetse fly in donkeys

In order to determine the study on the prevalence of trypanosomiasis was carried out in Lyari Town and its surrounding at District Karachi, the study was carried out during, 2013. The data was collected from field observations and survey. While, further examination for the confirmation and identification of trypanosome parasite in blood was carried out in the Department of Veterinary Parasitological Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary sciences, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam. A total of 130 animals (65 male and 65 female donkeys) were examined. The total prevalence rate of trypanosomiasis was found as 8.46% in donkeys. The prevalence rate across different sex group was found as 10.76% and 6.15% in male and female donkeys, respectively. It is suggested that the infected animals should be separated from healthy ones with regular treatment.
