Sonic Stress Downregulates STAT3 Activation in Prostate Cancer Cells Through Cytoskeleton Disruption

moderately inhibited proliferation (76% 8% vs PBS control). A significant radiosensitizing effect of the GNP-DT construct on clonogenic cell inactivation could be shown in the dose range 4-8 Gy with dosemodifying factors: d Z 4 Gy: 1.25 0.14 (p Z 0.039); d Z 6 Gy: 1.11 0.06; d Z 8 Gy: 1.07 0.04 (p Z 0.032). No significant effects for the other groups were observed. Conclusions: A novel method was developed that dramatically increases the transfer efficiency of small GNP into target cells compared to unmodified GNP. In addition, proof-of-principle experiments confirmed the radiosensitizing effect of the modified GNP, even though a suboptimal photon energy spectrum of 6 MV X-rays was used. Experiments using more efficient kV X-rays are planned. This should allow studies of the radiosensitizing effect of different GNP sizes. Author Disclosure: M. Veldwijk: None. N. Burger: None. A.
