THE NEW REGIONAL MODEL (NRM) "TOOLBOX" FOR THE ESTIMATION OF MATRICES FOR A BASE YEAR; AN APPLICATION FOR TESTING

One of the elements within the New Regional Model is the development of a "toolbox" for the estimation of Origin Destination (O-D) matrices for a basic year (BASMAT). A prototype version of that toolbox has been tested in the Dutch Groningen and Noord/Midden Drenthe region. A description is given of both the toolbox instructions and their real applications. Some directional notes are presented for possible improvements of the toolbox. Apart from that, the matrices estimated for the basic year 1990 are of such good quality that they can be used for further analysis and prognoses.
