BIOMIMETIC OXIDATION OF PICOLINES AND RELATED COMPOUNDS WITH H2O2 CATALYZED BY MANGANESE (III) 5,10,15,20-TETRAARYL PORPHYRINS
2021
Cytochrome P450 catalyzes the oxygenation reactions (introduction of an oxygen atom into a substrate) in living organisms. Biomimetic models of cytochrome P450 such as metalloporphyrins are catalysts with high potential. In order to understand the mechanism of N-oxide formation and C-hydroxylation of nitrogen heterocycles, the oxidation of different methyl-substituted pyridines with hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by 5,10,15,20-tetraaryl manganese (III) porphyrins has been undertaken in the present work. Different substituted 5,10,15,20-tetraaryl porphyrinato manganese (III) chloride, pyridine N-oxide, 4-picoline-1oxide, 3-picoline-1-oxide, and 2-picoline-1-oxide have been prepared and characterized by UV-visible, IR, 1H NMR, and Mass spectra. HPLC analysis is also carried out.
