2011
In order to study the perception of GMO risk and safety among Chinese public,we conducted a questionnaire survey in 30 provinces/cities around China.Analysis of over 4 000 questionnaires reveals that:the low perception of GMO among Chinese public, the Chinese public is extremely cautious about the safety of GMO food and that they do not have a clear recognition of bio-safety.Therefore,it is necessary to reinforce the popularization of GMO and to establish communication platform on GMO risks, and the government and research institutions should take the responsibility of the popularization of GMO knowledge. At the same time,it is very important to strengthen scientific popularization and management,to establish exchange platform for GMO risks, and to pay special attention to the communications with young people, especially with those higher educational level youth.
