The Injury Mechanism and Operative Treatment of Intra-Articular Fracture of Calcaneus

2008
Objective To explore the injury mechanism and operative treatment of intra-articular fracture of calcaneus. Methods Thirty-eight patients with forty-four fracture of calcaneus were treated with open reduction of L-Type of lateral wall of calcaneus and internal-fixation of the steel plate.Among them,16 cases were fractures of SandersⅡ,26 cases of Sanders Ⅲ,2 cases of Sanders Ⅳ.All cases′ fracture healing looked good at their last follow-up time. The time for completely loading on bone was 3~6 months (average,4 months) post-operation.Results All patients were followed up from 8 to 18 months(average,12 months),and the clinical results were evaluated by AOFAS Foot Score. The total score was 51~100 points(average,83.7 points).Excellent results were noted in 12,good in 23,fair in 7,bad in 2,the ratio of excellent and good results was 79.5%.Conclusion Intra-articular fracture of calcaneus can be effectively treated with open reduction and inter-fixation of the steel plate.
