Acute Diarrhea and Dehydration at Childhood During Pandemic

Diarrhea is the second leading cause of death among illnesses worldwide in children under the age of five. Although its incidence is highest in children under five years of age, it is a preventable and treatable disease that can cause death in infants under two years of age. It is stated that approximately 525 thousand children under the age of five die each year due to diarrhea, mostly in underdeveloped and developing countries. The most important cause of these deaths is dehydration. In addition, diarrhea attacks cause weight loss and growth retardation. It is essential to protect children from diarrhea and to follow up sick children. This article, which has been compiled as a case report, aims to inform healthcare professionals and the society about the prevention and treatment of acute diarrhea in children.
