POLINEUROPATIA AMILOIDÓTICA FAMILIAR OCASIONA ALTERAÇÕES COGNITIVAS

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the cognitive functions of patients with familial amyloid polyneuropathy followed up in a tertiary hospital in Fortaleza- CE. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out from January- November 2019. The population consisted of patients with FAP confirmed by genetic testing. The group of patients was compared to the control group. For the cognitive evaluation, the ACE-R (Revised Addenbrooke Cognitive Examination), FAB (Frontal Evaluation Battery) and Brief Cognitive Battery were used. Results: The final population consisted of 8 patients. The scores of ACE-R, FAB, MMSE and scores by specific cognitive area were lower in the group of patients. There was a trend of worse performance in the group of patients in the anterograde memory.  Conclusion: Our study carried out the first cognitive evaluation in the Ceara population of patients with FAP. Neuroimaging can bring more data.
