Gastric inlet patch (GIP) localized in the proximal third of the esophagus is a pathology with unknown real prevalence but has been reported to be 0.8-20% of gastroscopies. Such entity is usually asymptomatic, however, there are reports of symptoms and signs laryngitis, chronic cough, gastroesophageal reflux refractory to proton pump inhibitors and esophageal adenocarcinoma. This document consists in a literature review and is intended to offer an update on this issue, classification and establish the importance regarding proper diagnosis and management of symptomatic cases.
