Combined Ileostium and Ileostomy in 'Macaca Mulatta'.
1976
Abstract : Twenty-four Macaca mulatta were selected for surgical modification. The classical Mann-Bollman procedure was used with variation. The ileostromy involved resection of 6 centimeters of ileum, end-to-end and side-to-end anastomoses, and the formation of an ileostium on the abdominal wall utilizing current veterinary surgical techniques. This provided a surgically modified subject in which intestinal physiology could be monitored without the interference of tranquilizers, sedatives, or anesthetic agents. (Author)
