A precipitation study of two rapidly solidified AlFe alloys
1994
Abstract A kinetic study of decomposition in two rapidly quenched supersaturated AlFe alloys was performed using electrical resistivity measurements taken under isothermal conditions. The mechanism of transformation and the activation energy were derived from the classical Johnson-Mehl-Avrami treatment and the influence of the initial microstructural configuration is discussed. A tentative fit of the initial anomalous resistivity behaviour is made on the basis of a model which takes into account the formation of coherent preprecipitates in the first decomposition stages.
