Feasibility study on compression tolerance test combined with oxygen tolerance test in diver recruits

Objective To investigate the feasibility of compression tolerance test combined with oxygen tolerance test in diver recruits.Methods 1884 diver recruits were chosen as subjects and were randomly assigned to the 2 groups.The first group consisting of 1075 subjects simply underwent oxygen tolerance test,while the second group of 809 subjects had oxygen tolerance test combined with compression tolerance test.Positive rates of oxygen sensitivity for the subjects of the 2 groups were compared by using chi-square test.Results The positive rates of oxygen tolerance test for group one and group two were 1.40 ％ and 2.84 ％respectively,and statistical differences in positive rates could be seen between the 2 groups (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Compression tolerance test combined with oxygen tolerance test could result in more false positives.With this reason,oxygen tolerance test and compression tolerance test should be implemented separately in diver recruits.
