Role of mitochondrial transfer in nanotubules in repair of acute lung injury

2018
Acute lung injury is a common complication of sepsis. It has an acute onset, rapid changes in condition, and a high mortality.Currently, there is no effective treatment method in clinical practice.Finding an effective treatment method is imminent. Most scholars believe that acute lung injury caused by sepsis is associated with massive mitochondrial damage. In recent years, a widely studied pluripotent stem cell, mesenchymal stem cells, has been shown to relieve and treat acute lung injury due to sepsis by transporting mitochondria via nanotubes in a microtubule-dependent manner. This article reviews the research progress in this area. Key words: Mesenchymal stem cells; Nanotubules; Mitochondria; Sepsis; Acute lung injury; Reactive oxygen species
